3 simple tips (that you can implement- now!) to avoid getting sick - Vive Juicery

With recent developments, you have probably heard or talked about the coronavirus within the last two hours. Immunity and health are always hot topics and when a potential threat comes into the mix, these conversations get enhanced, and more direct. For the majority of U.S. communities, the CDC states the risk of being exposed to Coronavirus as low. However, it is still important to take precautions and put your health and nutrition at the forefront of your mind. Here at Vive, our motto is when you feel better, you show up better. Now is the time to FEEL BETTER!

There's a lot of coverage out there that can introduce feelings of fear, but we're getting back to the basics with three simple steps that you can do right now, to help prevent contracting this virus or any others.

WASH YOUR HANDS

Wash your hands before eating. Wash your hands after using the restroom. Wash your hands before touching your face. When it doubt, wash it out. You should be washing your hands for at least 20 seconds. For our auditory friends out there, sing the chorus of Truth Hurts (Lizzo), Africa (Toto), or recite all the facts you know about Shane Co. (Now, you have a friend in the diamond business...) If you are unable to wash your hands periodically throughout the day, then investing in some hand sanitizer will suffice! Or even, make your own at home!

GET SOME REST

Catching your zzz's is when your body recuperates itself! In fact, loss of sleep has a direct impact on your immune function. If you sleep less than 7 hours a night, you are almost three times more likely to catch a cold than those who get 8 or more hours of sleep! Make rest a top priority, it's just as important as your nutrition. Sleep also has an effect on the inflammation in your body. Poor sleep is strongly linked to long-term inflammation build up in your body, especially your gut. #GutHealth should be on your radar because it's what is absorbing the nutrients you need to support your body's functions. Listen to some guided meditation or ASMR videos to get into the sleep flow - om.

EAT (OR DRINK!) YOUR GREENS

Deep green and leafy vegetables offer your body a balance of vitamins and minerals you need to keep up with our fast-paced and busy society. A balanced diet of vitamins and minerals = a healthy and proactive immune system. This is especially noted in cruciferous vegetables (spinach, kale, broccoli) send chemical signals to your body to enhance cell-surface proteins that boost your immune system function. Your parent was right for making you eat all the veggies off the plate! Get five or more portions of plants (veggies + fruits!) to see significant increase in antibody response. Not sure how or not particularly interested in eating those veggies? A bottle of cold-pressed juice is equivalent to 3-5 lbs of produce. Drink 16oz of greens a day and add one more serving for dinner and boom(!) you've got the goods.
