Adaptogens 101 - Vive Juicery
Hey #ViveSociety!

We mush make room for mushrooms. Yup, we've invited some mushroom plant medicine to the party! You won't hallucinate, but you WILL feel good.

We're going to take you through a beginner's guide to mushrooms, we hope you learn, adapt, and sip along with us!

Adaptogens are non-toxic plants that help heal the body and supplement our bodies. These herbs and roots have been used for centuries in Chinese and Ayurvedic healing traditions, and have been growing a following again more recently! This is because these herbs will help you ground in, and heal from the inside - think of it this way;

When you exercise, your body will get used to and adapt to the physical activity which allows you to build up your body's health. When you take adaptogens, your brain will get used to and adapt to the mental stress that shows itself in our daily lives, building up your mental health!

Adaptogens work by training our brains to resist daily stress for longer periods of time, as opposed to typical responses that feel quick, suffocating, and add to the stress. How? When we face stress, our body goes through something called general adaptation syndrome (GAS). Gas is a three-step response when we experience these stressors; alarm, resistance, and exhaustion. Adaptogens help teach our brain to spend more time in the resistance phase, allowing us to "balance out" and take a moment.

Adaptogens simply help us adapt to stress. Being able to handle stress allows us to perform better, because we aren't feeling an internal battle of "fight or flight", we're able to ~ float ~ giving us time to access the stress we are feeling and helps promote more mindfulness approaches to move forward. You ever heard of breathing exercises? Now's the time to use 'em!

Adaptogens are beneficial to the body whether you are doing a single-use or prolonged use. It's recommended to use them often! You want to give your body plenty of herb fuel to build up that resistance. But don't worry - getting your adaptogens are as simple as stopping by your favorite neighborhood juice co 👇
